This is so NOT cool. What’s up with assholes who feel they were put on this earth to make fun of people for their weight, handicaps, whatever.

In this example, there’s a Facebook group called “Anti-Fat People in Revealing Clothing“. Several of these are of regular “plus-sized” girls wearing what anyone would want to wear to the beach.. namely bathing suits or shorts. These are mixed in with photos of severely overweight people that are nude or wearing thongs, etc.. In other words, making fun of even those of us (yes like me) who are plus sized, and comparing us to the “abnormal”.

I have SO much I want to say about this issue, but I will spare you. Suffice it to say that I am wanting to lose weight and I am sure I will, in time, with the right amount of willpower and discipline. But some women simply cannot, without alot of effort/medical intervention. For many, it’s genetic, or a health-related issue. You can’t just tell them it’s all their fault and simply “lose the fat”. It’s NOT that easy. It’s relatively so IF you’re lucky and can do it with diet and exercise alone. I’m in that category and I am grateful it’s “simply” a matter of my not eating right, and I can reverse this. But for some it takes much more drastic steps than that. And it’s just plain WRONG to make fun of it, on any score.

Secondly, the group’s tagline includes such quotes as:

This is a group for everyone that dreads going to the beach, because you know, They’ll be there… Have some respect for us, people, and don’t force us to look at that.

I have a newsflash for you! If you’re at the beach, you are NOT “forced” to look at the “ugly fat people”. Because, guess what? You don’t have to gawk! Wow! Revelation! Who the F**k asked you to stare and gawk anyway??!

What am I supposed to do while I’m in the process of losing my weight? Hide in my house or wear a potato sack till all my fat is gone? I’ll wear shorts to the beach and be comfortable if I damn well please! I’m not going to wear a thong or short-shorts (I’m not that brave! lol!) but I dont want some asswipe taking a photo of me because I’m wearing a sleeveless tee or my comfy pair of shorts.

Not that I consider myself as severely overweight as some in these photos. There are some extremes here, to say the least! But it does help drive home society’s attitude about obesity in general, whether you’re 20-30 pounds overweight or 150-200+ pounds overweight.

Some people just really suck. And that’s all I have to say. :( One photo showed a woman wearing a sleeveless shirt and shorts, falling asleep while at a festival. One of the comments asked, “Is she dead? Hope so”.

On a lighter note (unintended pun. LOL), here is my video of the Big Brother exterior soundstage, and some of the props they have stored in a fenced-off area in the back. This won’t be all that thrilling unless you’re a die-hard fan like I am. Even so, this might not be all that riveting. ;p But I got a big kick out of being there and seeing some of this stuff in person. Very cool. :)

  1. Pay no mind to those groups on Facebook. Some on there make me wonder…

  2. Bravo, Lisa! Seems the people who can eat whatever they want and never gain an ounce are the quickest to judge others.

But believe me, anyone who really wants to lose weight can do it. I’m going through the process right now myself, and if I can, anyone can. All you need is a working strategy and a lot of willpower.

Good luck in your quest. :)
